I hope you found useful our last tutorial. In this tutorial I will use the complex vector sun rays we’ve created there and use them to quickly create a vintage looking emblem using Adobe Illustrator.
Step 1. You give the sunrays a fading effect towards the edges. In this example the background is white so I applied a radial gradient from yellow to white with some minor tweaks.

You create two stars (no stroke, red fill initially, width-20 px) and a circle(width 150px), then select the two stars and create a blend using the blend tool(W) so that you have a row of stars.

You select both the blended object and the circle and go to OBJECT>>BLEND>>REPLACE SPINE so that all the stars are on the circle .

In order to get the spacing right between the stars you set the spacing options to SPECIFFIED STEPS 11.

Now rotate the circle until you get the star and end star aligned horizontally. In order to get all the stars aligned having one corner pointing upwards you need to rotate the initial 2 stars individually until you get the desired position.

Select the blended object and go to OBJECT>>PATH>>EXPAND. Now you just need to add another fill color to the stars and place them on top of the sun rays.

If you have access to a vector library you can easily add another design element, place it in the middle and you got a retro vector emblem. For this design I used one of the design elements found in our Communism Vector Pack.
We are offering you also the vector file for this tutorial, please download the illustration here.

Would you mind elaborating on the few tweaks you applied to the radial gradient? That surely isn’t just a regular radial gradient, heh. You must have applied a filter or an effect to it.

@Eli: See the image in step 1, if you take a look at the gradient slider you will notice the settings I used.

Why can I not print this tutorial out?
It only prints the first page to step 4 . the rest of pages come out blank.
